It is simple, and therefore has less "stuff" that malfunctions. No malfunctions, actually, to date. It steams well, pulls nice shots, is ready quickly. Clean it well and it'll treat you well.

The first one did not work because the pump would not prime but Amazon sent a replacement before we even got the defective one in the mail back to them! It works like a dream, easy to clean, easy to use, makes great coffee

This machine is excellent for the price, easy to clean, huge water tank, and easy to use, really happy with my purchase!
We have had it for about 6 months now and I can make store quality lattes at home, with the right burr grinder, we have the Saeco Titan which sells for 130$ everywhere but we got at Costco for 70$. The grinder really does make a difference in the quality of your espresso.
I had a few user errors when I first got it and it would make what I call "fluffy" shots where it would sputter coffee out but I solved that problem by running a plain water shot through before the espresso shot.
I appreciate the huge water tank and how easy it is to see the water levels, and the ease of clean I can put the two metal parts in the dish washer and to clean by hand there aren't any awkward corners to scrub. The machine is heavy and sturdy! It can take up to five minutes to heat up for the first shot of the day but I keep my self busy grinding, getting cups and milk ready.
We had the the Krups XP4030 for about 2 years, which we bought at Bed Bath and Beyond, the machine died twice in the time we had it but we kept the box and the instruction manual and were able to exchange it for a new one each time. I was never able to get the same kind of espresso as I am from the Lello, and it was harder to clean.

Pair this machine with a decent grinder, around the $100-$150 range and you've got a good set up. My mistake was going with a cheaper Braun grinder, it lacks the consistency needed for good espresso.
With the right technique, you will be making perfectly timed shots. Only complaint I have is that this machine seems only make five or six double shots before it runs out of steam. After that,the coffee starts breaking up and boiling, literally exploding from the portafilter.
Machine is well built and attractive looking. The finish is easy to maintain. The bottom of my drip tray is starting to corrode and peel away after only a few months. I expect this machine to last two or three years. I'll be looking at a Gaggia or Rancilio as my next machine.

I had my doubts at first, but this little espresso maker really does the job. Espresso came out right the first time! This has never happened with any machine I've ever had .... there is always a learning curve. The milk steamer however took a little time to learn. It's not as powerful as I was used to, but with a bit of practice and the right container, dense foam is produced in short order. I did abandon the supplied "frothing" attachment. Cleaning the machine is easy.
The water tank could be a weak point, but so far so good. Two clips that align the water tank to the back of the machine were broken in shipping. They simply held the water tank tight to the machine but their absence did not stop the machine from functioning normally. I didn't want to go without espresso while returning the unit and waiting for a replacement, so I glued the two little plastic hook back where they belonged and that was that. The unit is fine.
My only complaint is the control knob can be very hard to turn when the machine warms up. Sometimes my wife can't turn it at all. I intend to write the distributor to see if something can be done about this or if all the units share this problem.
We've had this machine for a few months and based on the quality of the coffee, I can recommend it .... but the few issues we have had should be considered. If it holds up for a year, I would tell all my friends to get one.
