Coffee is 98 percent water. Often overlooked, the quality of the water is as important as the quality of the coffee. A good rule of thumb is that if your water doesn't taste good from the tap, it won't taste any better in your coffee. That's why Cuisinart suggests adding a water filter to the coffeemaker. The Cuisinart DCC-RWF charcoal water filter removes chlorine, calcium, bad tastes and odors, for the purest cup of coffee every time.

Double protection for great tasting coffee by my Cuisinart Coffee Maker. This product is a water filter in addition to using a coffee filter. For those who are particular in wanting a great tasting cup of coffee, I highly recommend this product.

"Better coffee at home comes at a price" 2010-09-19
By Nicholas Hoehl (Badger State)
They do what they're supposed to do. I noticed our coffee was tasting different, even after cleaning the machine. Then I realized our filter had been in there since we bought the machine. Ordered a pair of new filters from Amazon and voila... better tasting coffee. They cost more than you'd expect for a tea bag full of... whatever is in there, but it works, and for the price of a latte at Starbucks, not to mention the time to get there and wait in line, it's more than worth it to have good coffee at home... BEFORE the kids wake up!

"Best Coffee Pot Every" 2010-10-15
By tiki3
I had a Mr. Coffee with a thermal-carafe. It was horrible. For one it did not make enough coffee and second it was never hot. The carafe was terrible and you had to keep reheating your coffee. So we purchased this Bunn. The first day I made coffee I burnt my tongue. Thank goodness. It was a real honest cup of HOT coffee. I also no longer have to wait, it brews the pot so fast. I had read a lot of reviews and people were stating a problem with the lid to the carafe. Bunn must have corrected this because I have not had any problems what so every and the coffee stays hot all day. When I pour out any left over it is still hot at the end of the night. It also makes a great cup of coffee. I don't know if it has to do with the way the grounds are distributed. I noticed a difference in this when I went from the Mr. Coffee to the Bunn.

"Works great!" 2010-10-06
By Brian Stevens (IOWA CITY, IOWA, US)
Bought this for my wife when her old brewer/chino went kaboom. She loves it. Like many others have said, you need to use a bit more coffee for the flavor your used to but having a cup ready any time is pretty nice. She can come home from working a 10 hour day and still have hot coffee in the mug. Stays hot all day.

"OK for what it's made for" 2010-09-06
By Columbus (CT)
I read many good reviews for this coffee maker, but one thing that kept coming up is that it made weak coffee, we bought the BTX-B and we too found it made weak coffee. It is fast, but maybe it's too fast, the coffee doesn't really have time to brew, we experimented with the strength and found it takes almost two times the coffee we used in our old coffee maker (a cheap Mr. Coffee). I think if this is used in an office or a household that drinks coffee all day, this may be the machine for you. But for the morning coffee drinker, the heater is on 24/7 and uses a lot of power and it uses twice as much coffee, an expensive appliance to own.

"LOVE IT!!!" 2010-08-21
By K. Murphy (Colorado)
Don't waste your money buying any other coffee maker. This one is the best!! Besides being super duper fast at

brewing, it also keeps coffee hot for 12 hrs in the carafe and still has the fresh brew taste. Awesome Product.

"so so coffee maker" 2010-07-15
By Chris 's opinion (Montgomery, Texas)
The Bunn does not have the quality control in their products anymore.
I guess they have to make things cheaper so some people will buy.
The carafe does not keep coffee as warm as it should and the water in the well does not get hot enough to really brew the coffee. I am disappointed in this product. This is my fourth and last Bunn

"Weak, no flavor dimensions" 2010-10-13
By K. Conklin
Went for economy in latest order and got the 6 pack as I could not recall what Dark Roast tasted like. Counted on all the positive reviews, but we all have different palates, don't we? I prefer Senseo's Kenya or Sumatra as a more reliably flavorful brew with Sumatra probably my favorite. Just opened my first of six bags, so I have a ways to go before I get to the end of my "bargain" purchase of a brew that is weak and one-dimensional. I guess I will have to play with the amount of water and pods as other reviewers suggest to try to get something strong enough to satisfy. Just can't throw it all out!

Price is right.
Why in the heck else buy this???

"Nice rich European style coffee" 2010-09-12
By eurofan
This is only coffee I can drink nowadays. And you can also vary the taste a bit yourself by either using 1 pod and hitting the "single" button on the Senseo, or use 1 pod and hit the "double" button on the Senseo. Both ways, you still get a creamy cup of coffee ... either very strong, almost like espresso, or like a good European tasting cup of coffee. With the Senseo coffee machine you can also stop the flow of coffee a little earlier, or hit the single button again to add a little more water without hurting the machine. It is geared for that. For me its the only way to go for a good cup of coffee!

"life without coffee" 2010-09-12
By mavin
life without coffee, I tried it and it did not work. I needed that extra kick in the morning and a follow up in the afternoon. The Senseo Dark roast coffee has the taste and the kick to satisfy the esoterical and the physical. It is a winner if you want to be with it and the Senseo single pod coffee machine always gives you a fresh cup of coffee.

"This stuff has turned me into a coffee addict!" 2010-08-18
By J. Dove (St.. Louis MO USA)
I'm no huge coffee connoisseur, but this stuff is great. Full flavor, never burnt tasting, has a chocolaty flavor, and the foam is great. The Senseo pods are a breeze to use. It's much faster to make a cup than with the Krups machine, tastes better, and it's more environmentally friendly since they don't use a plastic container. I suspect the dark roast is fresher than some of the other blends since it's a bit cheaper and they likely sell a ton of it, so it rotates more quickly from production to consumption.

My only minor complaint is it could be a bit hotter, and that's to do with the machine itself. Unless you heat up the mug, by the time your java is ready it's barely hot enough, but acceptable if you drink it right away.

I've tried all the various combinations of one pod, two pods, the right and the left button. I always use the single cup (left) button and one pod for the best taste. You need to use two pods to make a full mug, but it's no big deal, so just run the process twice. Takes less than a minute from switch-on to quaff-down. The price for a six-pack of dark roast from Amazon is great and it just scrapes over the free shipping minimum. Order a couple or weeks in advance before you run out. Having a cup now as I write this...yum.

"One simple and easy to use machine" 2010-10-03
By Robert
We have three of these in our extended family at different houses. They all work very well and make a great cup of espresso and or coffee. We have never had any trouble with them.

"very good coffee machine" 2010-08-20
By A. Sadovnikov
I use Nespresso machine for about one month. It already produced 60-100 shots, makes tasty beverage for about $0.60 per cup, very neat and easy to operate. Coffee selection is excellent. Delivery of new capsules is fast. I highly recommend to buy special flat box for coffee capsules (actually, it comes free with $110 "welcome" package together with 200 capsules - a good deal). I use it to entertain my guests (it's like waiter in upscale restaurunt offers you teas in special box)and myself every morning.

The only drawback of this machine is inconvenient location of water tank - at the back side. So, every time I pour water I have to move machine from the wall and then move it back.

"best espresso" 2010-05-01
By Laurenz Van Mook (aruba)
this Nespresso machine is perfect; it is small, fits in any kitchen, the espresso is nice and strong (flavor; Ristretto). It saves us lots of money, no more visits to the Starbucks & Donkin Donuts. very happy with the machine and coffee flavors.

"Nespresso is fantastic. Get the cheapest machine you can get." 2010-01-04
By D. Thiel (Deerfield, MA)
Below is my review of the Nespresso machine, and I love it. Couldn't be better and I highly recommend it. ONE THING THOUGH: make sure you compare the specs of the machine you buy, before you make the purchase. I bought the more expensive "cube" assuming it was better in some way (more power! yeah!) But it isn't. At the time I bought my cube, it was identical in spec (pump size, pressure, volume, etc.) to the other, cheaper machines offered. The only difference was form factor. So... if you're gonna get a nespresso, and I HOPE YOU DO, make sure choose which model to buy for the right reasons.

With all the new style espresso machines on the market (Tassimo, Keurig, Flavia, etc.) I was convinced that Nespresso was more of the same: a set of stylish gimmicks designed to convince you that this "espresso" (though not real at all) was "the real thing." It never is.

Which is why the Nespresso is so great. It IS the REAL THING. The capsules contain nothing more than espresso coffee grounds. The machine is simply an automated and miniaturized "real" espresso rig. And the results speak for themselves:

-- full bodied crema like you get from the best barista
-- speedy and HOT cups of espresso
-- the espresso produced is crisp and clear, full bodied, and smooth
-- my Sicilian wife and all her relatives (numerous, and mostly named "Maria" "Antonina" and "Dominic") all fully approve of the espresso that comes out. Comparing is to "Nonna's" would be sacrilege, but although those words have not been spoken yet, I am conviced the thought has crossed a couple minds. :-)
-- all this in under 30 seconds and within a square foot of counter space.

The frothing unit that comes with the machine is nothing short of black magic. I have NO IDEA what it does or how it does it, but the results will amaze you. And the best part is it's easy to clean: no sticky milk mess left behind to make you wonder who's gonna get sick first.

Coffee for this machine is 55 cents per cup, and Nespresso delivers online orders with astonishing speed (which is good, because you can't get the coffee from anyone else!). A bit pricey, but in this case you DO get what you pay for... and then some.

"My quest for perfect espresso is finally over!" 2006-01-06
By Ernest Hemingway (Florida)
This review is based on my experience with the Nespresso Essenza C90, but the Nespresso Essenza D90 is quite similar, and the espresso making mechanism is exactly the same.

We all have our little passions. Over the years, I have devoted too much time, money, and study to perfecting the art of making the perfect coffee and espresso. I searched the world (and the internet) for the best beans, grinders, equipment, and even tried roasting my own beans and became able to produce better potions that one can ever find in the coffee boutiques. Still, as it turns out, my efforts were in vain. The Nespresso Essenza (and probably the other Nespresso machines similar in design) produces the perfect cup and the ease of doing so, sadly, puts my efforts to shame.

The secret seems to be in the strong pumping mechanism (19 bars of pressure, same as their more expensive machines) and their superb coffee capsules. After being such a stickler for the freshest roasted estate grown beans, I balked at the use of capsules and considered it the coffee for dummies approach. I also thought that they might be kind of similar in quality to the coffee "pods" used in the new single serve coffee machines, which range from bad (for the manufacturer and supermarket brands) to only fairly good (for the best of the gourmet, limited-edition pods at over $1 each).

Against all odds, the Nespresso pods are pure magic. I ordered new pods right away, but even the sampler pods that came with the machine were incredible, despite being past their "best before" expiration date. I'm equally mystified as to how they can have about twelve varieties and almost all be exquisite, despite noticeable differences not only in strength but in flavor. The "lungo"capsules are also fantastic (these produce 4 ounces of coffee-espresso instead of the classic 1 to 2 ounce espresso). Being partial to espresso and very dark coffee, I wasn't so impressed with the two or three pods weakest in strength, but those who like traditional American coffee might prefer them.

The Nespresso capsules completely dispelled my concern that they would be limiting compared to the use of coffee beans. It turns out that the opposite is true. Sure, there may be hundreds of different beans available, with infinite possibilities of blends and roasts, but they rarely reach the superior flavor these capsules achieve. Moreover, ordering coffee beans limits you to only one or two roasts for awhile, unless you buy a variety of green coffee beans (which last much longer than roasted beans) and roast them yourself in small quantities. With the capsules, a nice variety of espresso variations are available instantly.

Having been in the habit of ordering expensive coffee beans, I find the cost of the Nespresso capsules at $.50 each and the two-day shipping charge of only $5.95 (for any quantity) very reasonable. When buying roasted coffee beans, the shipping cost for one or two day air was much higher, and I had to reorder them every few weeks to keep fresh ones on hand. Since the Nespresso capsules stay fresh much longer, I can order a several month supply at one time.

The only criticism of the machine is that the espresso might not be quite hot enough for some aficionados. However, it is just hot enough for me, and the temperature can be raised slightly by heating the cup first.

It is amazing that I can now enjoy the best espresso almost instantly. This is truly the perfect way to enjoy espresso, even if I can no longer take credit for concocting it.

"DO NOT BUY" 2010-10-06
By Mooman (New Hampshire)
We bought this to take on a trip as it was small and would provide that nice wake up cup in the morning. Well...it did --- one time. After the first cup it completely stopped working. I had to toss it and get another brand -- which worked.

"This is the one to get" 2010-10-05
By Timberwolf (Aiken, SC)
This Toastess device is great. The price when I bought it was only 14.99 in Sept 2010. It comes with an easy way to determine the amount of water to put in it... notice the fill viewer window on the side. It has an on off switch too and comes with a black coffee cup. Inside the little spout thing swings over.

It may be a good idea as mentioned in another review to not swing the spout over the filter until the water is good and hot; however, the coffee is plenty hot for me but then I add a couple of cubes of ice to my coffee I get at McDonalds.

I did leave my on all night one time ... had no problems. Buy the larger 8 - 12 cup filters for this device. THEN, fold the filter in half, then fold it in half again. Now you have an 8 -12 cup filter that costs less than the specialty #2 size filters or whatever this maker takes and it fits too. This maker comes with a permanent filter by I'm to lazy to clean those out each time plus my mom stated her plumber told her that coffee grounds going down into the kitchen sink is like putting cement down the drain. So using the throw away filter prevents any grounds from going down the sink.

When I bought mine it came with Super Saver Shipping too so for me its a no brainer get this one cup coffee maker in the event you want one. It does require the old standard coffee cup ... comes with a black one... these older style cups for me have been hard to find in stores they seem to be making them all taller. But my mom gave me some of hers she has hundreds.

This is a great little coffee maker. Comes with a nice ceramic mug. Only takes 3 minutes to make very hot water for coffee, tea, hot cocoa. And it goes right into your mug. Almost any mug will fit, except the extra tall ones. Couldn't believe it was so good for such a low price! Love it!

"Messy with outrageous shipping charge from Amazon" 2010-10-03
By Bonnie L. Robinson (United States)
Once you get used to the grinds sticking to the inside lid and shake them vigorously into the coffeemaker, then it's as good a grinder as any. The price was wonderful on it also. But, Amazon charged so much for shipping that it came out to be more than if I had bought a more expensive one in a local Target, Walmart, etc. (in CA!!).

I really resent the shipping charges. I know they have gone up, but it's not like it got here overnight. It took over a week for it to get here, first class mail. They shouldn't have charged me any more than 4.00$. Disgraceful and I'm getting real sick and tired of Amazon ripping me off with their shipping. I'm going back to eBay and specifically to the sellers who are fair with their shipping and handling costs.Otherwise, I'll just start going back into stores and buying.

Sorry Jeff. Get your company's shipping policy under control. It needs serious medication and/or institutionalization.

"Good enough" 2010-09-13

Have only used it a couple times for coffee beans and so far it works quite well. Simple, easy-to-use basic grinder is good enough for its purpose.

"Use your blender instead!" 2010-08-18
By Practicing Catholic (Central Ohio)
I bought this item to grind fresh coffee everyday. It makes such a mess that I only ground my coffee once a week. Eventually I went back to grinding the whole bag of coffee at the store. Once when I purchased two pounds of whole beans I decided to try the blender to do the job. It worked better than the coffee grinder! Less mess and less noise. I just used the high power grind setting. My blender is an old Hamilton Beach model with a glass pitcher. Save your money, just use your blender!

"Been grinding strong for 4 years." 2010-04-25
By brooke
I bought this 4 years ago, and its still running perfect.

While, this may not be the top of the line model it isn't bad for the price.

I have no plans to replace this with a more pretentious model. It has been used virtually everyday and has yet to jam up or ruin a cup of coffee.

It can be a annoying to open since the grounds will spill if you don't tap the top.

And, it is a pain to clean but for the price and the long life I will deal with it.

It's a simple device and you have to keep an eye on the grounds to make sure they grind properly since there is no other settings then on/pulse. But for the price, and the length of time it has worked (still going strong) I suggest you buy it.

I won't be replacing mine anytime soon! :)

"Toastmaster Coffee Grinder" 2010-03-31
By Andrew Smith (Syracuse, UT)
We bought this grinder to use to grind our flaxseed. It has worked well for us. I originally looked into a hand operated one and didn't find the reviews good. We are happy. One complaint I did read about this one was it was hard to clean. We just use a pastry brush to brush it out. Then every couple of times we use it, we wipe it out with a damp cloth. We like it!

"Some Disappointment" 2010-10-12
By acithacany
I eyed up this machine for a month before I bought it. I was really disappointed the coffee pot dripped all over the place the 1st time I poured a cup. I tried pouring with the lid up, it helped a little. I decided to keep the machine anyway and resigned to keeping a paper towel under it when I pour. It doesnt come with a tamp or tin cup for the frother. I didnt realize just how much counter space it was going to take up. I like the multiple options and the small 8 cup pot, just wish it didnt drip everywhere.

"Great deal" 2010-10-03
By J. Novak (Detroit, MI USA)
Was on here looking for this exact model as my sister loved it so much she wanted one for her birthday. I've had mine for several years (bought at a Kmart) and although I kept my eye out for one at the stores since, have not seen it until now. I haven't had any real problems with mine and love the fact that you can make regular 'american' coffee (for friends/family) as well as espresso/cappucino (for me - I like it strong). It's easy enough to use and you can't beat the price. Hell, you can't buy an espresso machine alone for this price!

The only issue I've ever has is my own fault - dropped the espresso carafe one night (after three sleepless nights while working on a master's thesis). Imagine that - dropping glass, who'd think it would break, right? Even that wasn't really a problem, just put the mugs under the dripper.... Anyway, that being said, found out while searching, that you can get replacements for either of the carafes for around $10, so I wouldn't worry too much about the reviews of cracked pots and such. Would agree with one reviewer that a clock would be nice, but again you have to consider the price. Also 8 cups empties quickly when you have a lot of guests.

I have also used a few professional espresso machines which do make a higher quality cup, but then you're looking at $200 and up (some of the $600 machines are fantastic and practically indestructible, but unless you have a coffee shop and/or a whole lot of bling, such a price is really not justifiable). So when all is said and done, I just have to keep referring to the price - it's unbeatable and the product works well enough. The only accoutrement I would suggest is a grinder which will probably set you back another +/-$10.

"Lid cracked into 3 pieces" 2010-09-03
By yikes
I like this pot, but lid somehow cracked into 3 giant pieces???? I do not know how. I know I did not break it--but I'm not the only one living here. I suspect it was a stress fracture in plastic--anyway,--tried gluing--MESS. So with broken lid, very easy to forget to place water wand back over grounds after filling filter, so have had some water mishaps, which caused damage to hardwood floor and cabinet--(my husband makes my coffee before he leaves, so it it a few hours before I find mess) I liked this pot because it fit under cabinet without pulling forward to fill--I like the water portion you fill and place onto unit w/o top filling with carafe. The carafe does leak alot too, so there are alot of negatives, but if I can find a new lid, I would still keep this unit. Makes good coffee. Have not even tried espresso side.

i've had this since fathers day 2010 and i like it, but the heater for the coffee part is starting to chip away and is almost rusting! the steamer for the milk is also difficult to operate. overall, a good coffee brewer but i wouldn't buy another.

"Horrible - pot leaks" 2010-08-29
By shrtandsweet4
My husband and I were very displeased with this coffee maker. Thankfully Target was willing to return the item for us. The coffee pot leaks when pouring a cup of joe and got worse over time. I would have a puddle of coffee after pouring a cup of joe. The espresso maker also didn't work. I returned this and got a JUST a plain jane coffee maker. I am now a happy person!

From the Manufacturer

The Quest for the Perfect Cup of Coffee

Water Any hot beverage is made up primarily of water. Often overlooked, the quality of the water is as important as the quality of the coffee, tea, or cocoa. A good rule of thumb is that if your water doesn’t taste good from the tap it won’t taste any better in your beverage. That’s why the Cuisinart Single Serve Brewing System has added a charcoal water filter that removes chlorine, bad tastes, and odors, for the purest cup every time. Cuisinart recommends changing the water filter every 60 days or after 60 uses, and more often it you have hard water.
The Cuisinart SS-700 Single-Serve
Brewing System
Coffee While the bulk of the liquid is water, all of the flavor should be from the coffee, tea, or cocoa. To achieve the same great quality you receive at coffee bars, you need to use the same quality ingredients. By using the K-Cup, brought to you by some of the most premium brands on the market, you can be assured that you’re getting the finest, freshest gourmet product with every cup you brew. If you choose to make your own coffee make sure all your ingredients are at their freshest.
Grind The grind of coffee and cocoa or the refinement of your tea leaves is critical for proper flavor extraction. With the pre-measured, pre-ground ingredients found in every K-Cup, you can rest easy knowing that it’ll brew perfectly each and every time, locking in maximum flavor and freshness.
Proportion No matter which cup size you choose, the Cuisinart Single Serve Brewing System, working in conjunction with K-Cup, always produces the perfect cup every time. When grinding your own coffee, remember to add the amount of ground coffee that corresponds to the number of ounces being used.

"Love this machine" 2010-10-15
By Summer (Pa.)
I recently purchased my Cuisinart SS-700 Single Serve System and love it. I have a Keurig in my office and it's been a good machine for over 6 years. No problems but I decided to try the Cuisinart due to the reviews and design. I am not disappointed. The rinse and cup size selection as well as the hot water selection for tea bags or soup, are terrific features. I use my Cuisinart at least 5 times a day and have not had a single problem so far. I love the rectangular shape as it does not take up a lot of counter space even with the large capacity water storage..

The shipping was super fast and it was packaged well. . The price is excellent compared to the store prices and I would recommend this to everyone.

"Great machine!" 2010-10-15
By tracey crone
I first purchased this item and after about 2 weeks, It didnt make the correct cup size and there was a problem with the water pump..

I contacted price bros (the seller) They immediatly sent a new one and I have had it about 7 weeks now and it works beautifully!

I use this machine at least 6x a day..and up to 15..I brew coffee on 10 oz..tea on 6...find those the best cup size to suit my flavor choice..I use green mountain breakfast blend and it makes a perfect delicious cup..I also use dunkin donuts and brew that in the included filter..also fantastic..I buy whole beans as it stays fresher longer and grind enough for 4 cups at a time...

I love the hot water feature as well as the rinse feature..Has a good sized water tank..and really like the water filters..easy to fill ..easy to use and makes a delicious HOT cup of coffee or tea...would and have recommended to many..this will be a gift I give a few people at christmas..

I can't say enough about the vendor..they are fantastic!
the hot water selection is hot enough for bagge tea..oatmeal and ive used it for things like stuffing that calls for hot water...

"Very hopeful" 2010-10-14
By Marianne Wilson (Ventura CA)
I have had the worst luck with the Kuerig coffee makers. I went through three of them in a span of two years. They just don't work right. I would buy one, it would work for a couple months just fine, then it would give me half a cup, next time it would be normal, then it would dispense nothing. All three did that to me. I am determined to find the ideal coffee maker. This one seems to be ok. Although I do believe it is also made by Keurig. I have my fingers crossed, so far so good. I love the new water tank, ( a tip ) DO NOT REMOVE IT FOR REFILLING, air seeps into the works after continued removal and replacement, Use a pitcher and pour water into it. Remove it just for cleaning. Another tip, always remove the k cup, leaving the sharp pin inside the kcup for hours is not good for the coffee maker. These things need all the help you can give them. So far, this machine has been working perfectly, it feels solid, looks good. I wish me luck.

"Easy to use, great coffee!" 2010-10-08
By B. Green (Bay Area)
I highly recommend my Cuisinart coffee machine - it's fast, easy to use and makes great coffee, one cup at a time. The regular strength K-Cups are not strong enough, even on the 6oz setting, so I was initially disappointed, but the "extra bold" K-Cups are plenty strong enough, especially Tully's K-cups. It won't make espresso strength, but then, you couldn't reasonably expect it to. My favorite points:

It comes with a refillable K-cup that works just fine (I've had no overflows with it) and is not hard to clean and refill. And, the machine has a storage door to fit it, which also takes the K-cup holder when the other one is in use.

BPA free, large reservoir, which you use surprisingly fast, especially if you are rinsing between coffee and hot water for tea.

My 15.8cm tall travel cup fits underneath the spout without removing the drip tray. Big plus!
It has only had one hiccup - it started pausing in the brewing cycle, until I figured out it was because I was moving it back and forth from a shelf to the counter. That caused bubbles in the line, I think. Now it stays put and has not done that again.

I tried loose tea in the refillable K-cup and it was too weak, but you can put a bag in the cup and run a hot water cycle more easily anyway.

"Great coffee maker just one little thing to do first!" 2010-10-05
By C. Mendoza (St. Amant, LA USA)
This coffee maker is fantastic! However, no where in the manual does it tell you to rinse it several times (I did it 3 times total) before making your coffee for the first time. If you don't, the coffee will have a strong taste of plastic. I've talked to several people that have a coffee maker simular to this one, and they reported the same thing. I'm not sure why the maker doesn't put this information in their manual. Anyway, I strongly recommend this coffee maker! It makes a great cup of coffee as well as a great glass of iced tea. Just cut your tea bag open and put the leaves into the k-cup that comes with the appliance, then brew the iced beverage brew. Add ice cubes and more water to your glass...perfect iced tea.

Amazon.com Review

One of the most comforting sounds in the world is the bubbling of a coffee percolator at work. And then comes the toasty aroma--it makes for a perfect morning. Percolators have come back to home kitchens, and the Presto 12-cup stainless steel coffee maker is a prime example. Its elegant, hotel-style design brings a touch of luxury to what is for many a daily pleasure. This coffee maker brews up to twelve cups of coffee at a cup-a-minute rate, which it then keeps at a constant, piping-hot serving temperature. An indicator light in the base announces when the coffee is ready. The inner fixtures--the filter basket and perk tube--are also made of stainless steel, rather than the more common (and less durable) aluminum. The power cord is removable to make storage simple.
Before cleaning the coffee maker, unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely. Wash the coffee maker with warm, sudsy water and dry it thoroughly; it is not immersible. To preserve the gloss of the stainless steel, do not use steel wool or harsh, abrasive cleansers. The perk spout and filter basket can be cleaned with a brush or pipe cleaner. If necessary, coffee stain remover can be used periodically on the interior surface. The coffee maker measures 10 by 5 by 13 inches (including handle, lid, and spout). Presto guarantees this product with a one-year limited warranty. A simple instruction sheet is enclosed. --Garland Withers

"Great, until rust sets in" 2010-10-12
By Brian Besong
My wife and I bought the Presto percolator after having problems with drip coffee machines over the years. We were initially thrilled with this coffee machine as compared to drip coffee makers previously owned. The coffee quality is fantastic, substantially better than what we were used to previously (and the great part is that "normal" coffee like Maxwell House tastes great - there is no need to buy whole bean and grind fresh for great coffee).

The main problem is that within a year, the prongs that connect to the cord have rusted and now make electrical sounds (like sizzling) when the cord is barely jiggled. We replaced the cord, thinking that would do the trick, but it looks as though the whole machine has to go. It really is a shame, I read many reviews on here that indicated people had owned this brand percolator for 20+ years with no problems. We have owned ours for about a year, and irreplaceable parts have rusted through. I wonder if Presto has changed the materials some of these pieces were made with? At any rate, we are not buying another.

Also, though it would be a minor point if the rust had not occurred, this machine is a pain to clean daily, since we would have to wash all the parts by hand (I forget if the internals are machine washable, but we don't run the washing machine daily, so it didn't matter).

"This percolator works well!" 2010-10-09
By FLDonna (Tampa, Florida USA)
Almost every year I by a new drip coffeemaker. They leak, the timers break, and I can't tell you how many times the filter folds over getting grounds in my coffee. I almost bought the Spacemaker model but the reviews were not good. For kicks I tried this percolator and I love it. It looks nice, easy to hide (much smaller footprint than the drip)and the coffee is hot and tastes great. The only feature I miss is the auto start but I got a $10 timer from The Shack. It is not as quiet as a drip, but it's quick (5 mins), easy to set up, easy to clean, and no more filters. I grind my own coffee beans and will need to do a coarse grind for this new percolator. I am happy with my purchase.

"This Coffeemaker made strong tea" 2010-10-03
By M. Trombley (USA, Vermont)
We love our coffee strong, quite strong as a matter of fact and this coffeemaker could not do it. We filled the basket to the brim with coffee and it came out as strong tea. This did not work for us so back to drip we go.

"Can't beat the taste!" 2010-09-22
By Lysan
None of the coffee-makers of today can beat the taste of a good perculator from the past. Presto was always one of the best and I'm glad I decided to finally get it after trying parctically all those drip coffe makers on the market. Coffe tastes great again, I really enjoy my 2 cups in the morning. Reason I only gave it 4 stars - the cord is way, way too short! Otherwise, no complaints about this beautiful perculator. Looks great on the counter, takes up less space. Can anyone tell me where to get a longer cord.....?

"Good Coffee maker but weak coffee" 2010-10-13
By Paul Farago
This coffee maker works well and looks nice. The only complaint is that it does not grind enough coffee. In order to grind enough coffee for 10 cups, I set the grinder for 10 cups and when it is done grinding, I shut the coffee maker off and set the grinder for 6 more cups and then let it brew.

"Excellent Coffee maker" 2010-10-08

I love this coffee maker. The builtin grinder makes for wonderful cleanup with no hassle. I recommend this coffee maker to everyone.

"Better design than the previous Capresso Grind/Brew" 2010-10-08
By D. Clay Rakestraw (Palmetto, Georgia United States)
I've owned the previous version of the Capresso Grind/Brew and really liked it. When it gave up the ghost, after about 5 years, I bought this newer design. I love it! It is easier to use and it produces hotter coffee. I will say that you must use the darkest setting AND reduce the water to get a stronger brew. That's no problem for us since one pot filled to 8 cups is the perfect amount. If you are a big coffee drinker and like it strong, your going to be making multiple pots. There's nothing better than waking to perfectly brewed coffee! LOVE the easy timer feature!!! Clean up is a snap. Did I mention... I LOVE THIS COFFEE MAKER!?!

"Great so far" 2010-09-24
By Aprilia Driver (Emeryville, CA USA)
I had a previous version of this machine with the swing out filter basket for about 2 years. It suddenly gave out. It was good, but the coffee chute continually clogged. I use dark French Roast, and the beans are oily (I get up oily in the morning :) ). So I left the slot cover open and dealt with it. I read a lot of the comments here, and was a bit hesitant, but finally bit bought the item. Here are my observations comparing this with the old machine, which I liked.

1. The grinding noise is no where near as loud as the higher pitched whine of the old machine, but runs 25-30% longer.
2. Based on info in the reviews, I put the grind size to the middle, and no clogging.
3. Have set full aroma, 10 cups, pour in 6 cups of water. Excellent STRONG coffee. I drink it black.
4. More noise as it fills carafe, like a loud snap crackle pop. Big deal.
5. No swing out filter, no coffee grounds on counter.
6. Overall aesthetics are great. Really like the machine.

Hope this helps.

"Pros and Cons, probably not worth the price" 2010-09-20
By LikesHerCoffee
I've lived in a house with the big Capresso coffee centers and was expecting similar quality on a smaller scale. The grinder and timer and other functions are really convenient, and it makes good coffee once you figure out how to get it how you like it.

I program it for more cups than I add water so that I can get it a decent level of strength. Also had to completely abandon the filter holder and lid to the pot and just use the filter it came with and a paper filter combo and let it drip into the pot without the holder -- the water would fill up and over the filters and a ton of grounds get into the pot otherwise. I think the release that hits the lid of the pot gets stuck or something.
